That serial number comes up as an engine number. Even switching the 8 for a 3 or 6 still comes up for an engine. Did you look on the upper side of the drive or the engine?

Yeah, I went to mercruiser's parts website and it kept giving me engine parts with that serial. Its definitely the drive number... its on a plate near the top of the upper gearbox that says "serial no." Anywhere else I should look?
I'm guessing (hoping) that its a 1.48. This is a boat that I bought in non-running condition and the props that came with it are a 19p and 23p. Seems like that should have been matched to the 1.48 ratio the best for a 2600-lb, 19' boat behind a 200-hp 5.0... if the previous owner had any knowledge of how to pick a prop.

Bravo I comes with 1.36, 1.50, & 1.65.
