Any one know about the new merc 5 blade props?
Increase in top end? hard on the outdrive??
I am running a Merc Stainless 4 blade lab finish now
I have a 2000 Cheetah Stiletto 24 Bravo one outdrive.
The boat runs a solid 70mph at 5000 rpm
I know not the fastest thing on the water...
    Thank you.

The starting pitch of the Maximus props would probably be a little stout for a stock 502. They start at 26p. When going up a blade, the normal rate is to DECREASE the pitch by 2 steps. IE, If you were by chance able to run a 26p 4-blade: You would want to start with a 22p 5-blade. They don't make that one low enough for you and I
You would probably want to try a High-5. I think they make those in our baby-pitches.

The 5 blade Maximus is now available in a 24 pitch. Generally you want to reduce the pitch by one step (2" pitch) when switching from a Bravo I 4 blade to the 5 blade. Since you are running a 24 now you would have to get a lab finished 24 Maximus to keep the RPM's close to 5000. Lots of money.
Performance wise the 5 blades like step bottoms with high X dimensions or cats. Not sure it would be money well spent for your application.

Like Havasu47 said, stick with the bravo. Here is something many do not realize, the more blades, the more drag that is created. Usually equalling lower top speed. That is why hydros and top fuel run only 2 blades. A five blade will usually do a bit better mid range.

For the definitive answer, call Julie at Throttle Up in FLA....can be found on offshoreonly.com.
They have a good selection of 5 blades and really know their stuff when it comes to "wheels." Hydromotive may make a prop that will increase midrange response, lower slip and improve holeshot with a fairly negligible effect on the top end...

Thank you everyone for the help. Sorry I have not been online sooner. Computer death.... New machine now.....
Sounds like the 4 blade is the best for my setup.
    Thank you again.
