I'm new to owning a v-drive, my last boat was a 19' jet. My current is a 21' Eliminator day cruiser. I would appreciate any maintenance tips, or driving tips.
we ski allot, do you take off in 1st when skiing, and then shift to drive or do you use drive for everything? any tips on this matter would be great...........I want to be user friendly for my boat...thanks

I have a turbo 400 in my flatbottom. Most of the time when skiing i only use 3rd gear. If you are teaching people to ski or wake board 2nd sometimes comes in handy. It usually depends on how fast you are pulling the skiers and at what level they ski at.

I have 21'Howard v-drive with turbo 400 and a blown 547 chevy. I use 3rd gear for take off whether skiing or racing or just playing. 1st &2nd are good for docking or manuvering in tight spots. 2nd just seems to burn the prop when taking off hard.
