Is this a good reliable outboard?

New to outboards and need some help. Thinking of buying this boat with a Johnson motor. Was told a fresh rebuild (cost $1660) with 3 hours and it make 227 HP. Not sure the year of the motor, but boat is a 1987. What kind of speed do you think it run and how reliable are these motors? It will be a nice family cruiser Thanks Joe

Prob. around 80 mph. 1600 seems cheep for a rebuild but Im not a mechanic.

Mabey he meant powerhead? The guy doesnt know a whole lot about the boat. Thanks Joe

maybe he meant the lower unit. my cle cost 2000 for complete rebuld with all race gears and drive shaft.

maybe he just meant the top-end rebuilt
