I've got a similar problem. I can get to the front bolts on the intake, problem is that when I had my hull blueprinted the bolts were covered up and I dont want to mess with the body work below. Im planning to use the loader bolts.

Are you guys trying to use the bolts where the suction housing bolts to the intake? This area should be pretty wide open, right below the drive shaft.

No.I am trying to use the bolts where the intake attaches to the hull, however they are not available(too short and I dont want to pull them out to put longer ones in). Next closest back is the loader bolts. Seems like the farther forward you go, the more effective the brace will be?

I suppose that logic is correct, unless the torsional force on the pump is where the driveshaft and the pump connect? (not to mention that the front of the intake is usually under the oil pan). Maybe steelcomp can jump in here and use some really big words to explain this All I know is what I've seen, and that is that most of the pump braces connect where the S.H. and intake bolt together, or mid-way on the intake to hull connection. How much HP you gonna throw at it, anyway?
BTW, I kinda dumb, so I would hit up somebody a little sharper than I am to give you an answer on this.

Or you could set your motor forward about 2 feet and do both:

LOL. HP is 800. I think the force is where the end of the pump meets the hull. The intake is mounted rigid so it seems the brace @ mid intake is less effective than something mounted at the end of it...Who knows, I bet anything is better than nothing if installed correctly.

Mine is mounted on the suction housing. I want to rig one that hooks to the jet-a-way. I lost a pump a couple of years ago. It broke around the suction housing, the intake did not move. The driveshaft came apart, that is what caused the break.

We are talking about two differnt problems now though(drive shaft vs boat flexing where the hull meets the intake).
I have seen some pix of a boat that had several braces, including one that supported the nose of the intake where the shaft comes out...

Rust may have been a factor in this failure.
