Old Rigger, I'm sure you remember Havasu in the 70's listening to a big block Hot Boat coming up the lake. A good percentage of the time it was the Coast Guard in their Spectra 20's. I wanted to be one of those guys.
The lines on those Spectras are timeless. Gotta be my favorite daycruser of all times. I'd like to have one someday.

I remember those days, but for me it was the Campbell owner that I had always envied. We'd be cruising up the channel in my dads old 17' Glasspar with the 115 Evinrude and I'd just drool over the Campbells.

We started out with a low profile 16' no name boat that had back to back bench seating and a 75 hp Mc Colloch. Thinking back I was probably drooling over anything with a V-8.

Yeah, if you had a Spectra cruiser back then you were IT. My dad always wanted a Campbell though, and from the late 60's on, always carried one of their business cards in his wallet. The card had the profile of their boat on it, and he really liked it. Never got one though. Now that I think about it, I don't remember a picture of me in there, but the Campbell always had a little window of it's own. In the 60's he had a wood flatbottom runnin' a 75 hp evinrude, so it was a long ways from there to a Campbell. lol. We had a place at Bullhead then and there was one guy that hung out in that area with a Campbell, my dad would stop in his tracks every time it cruised by. Got to go for a ride in it a time or two too.
From '69 or '70 til the end of the 70's, he didn't even have a boat, just used whatever was on the showroom floor at Tahiti.
My buddy has 3 of those 75 McCulloch engines rat holed away. They were very fast for the day.
