from ground to points to neg side of coil.
help need to wire in a point dist. from scratch does anyone have the diagram?
its in a older boat
from ground to points to neg side of coil.
Yep, black wire from dist to - side of coil. That's all there is.
Make sure the other side goes "12v from ignition switch to BALLAST RESISTOR. Ballast resistor to + side of coil."
Tachometer to - side of coil by the way. They don't like the + side.
thanks
Won't run without one of them in there as well.............MP
Yep, quite true MP.

False. It will run without the condenser, but the points won't last any appreciable time.

OK, what ever you say. All these years I've been concerned with soak time for charging a device I didn't need............MP

Wasn't trying to be a smart-azz. Condenser acts as "shock absorber" to prevent the points from arcing. Points would still do their job as a switching device, but service life would be unacceptable.
I changed careers when the "Big 3" started using solid state ignition.
