he might as well lock out the distributor because his boat will accelerate to full throttle faster than the advance mechanism will.
Why lock it out, just have the curve all in 500r's above idle it won't slow down accelaration one bit but it will start easy!.. I can not see locking out a distributer unless it's a blown deal!..
i've got no problem starting my motor and I've got a small Odyssey battery (330cca), locked timing, and over 12:1 cr.
dont see a need for an advance mechanism in a jet boat that is gonna be hammered from idle to wot.
