What do you guys recommend for battery cable. Id like to buy it by the foot and crimp my own ends. Planning on going with 1 gauge cable. Is there someplace in Anaheim I can go to pick it up?
    Thanks for your insight.

Put 2-gauge in, plenty heavy for 700 or 800 amps (about6 3x what your starter will draw, ever), and (still damn stiff) more flexible than 1-gauge.
Also, get the finest wire conductor strand possible. Electricity actually is carried ON THE SURFACE of the wire strands. More strands at the same size wire, more electricity conducted without overheating the wire.

Try WEST MARINE They have marine battery cable by the foot. It looks like they are not to far from your location. (not sure though)

Marvac has the finest 1 & 00 I've ever seen and it flexes like a piece of vacuum hose. I've run it for 5 years and it's OK for gas, oil ETC. Inexpensive to boot!

unless your battery is underneath the bowl of your boat and you need to run the cable all the way back to the starter 1-awg is overkill.
    4 will do the job.
i have 2-awg in my boat and for the 4 or 5 foot long run it makes, its probably overkill as well since i only run the starter, ignition, fuel pump and gauges with it.
