Thread: Ballast resistor needed?

I am running an Accel 71000 Series Magnetic Breakerless Dist. with a Super Coil. From the way I read the instructions I bypass any original ballast resistor and run 12V straight to the coil and then straight from the coil to the Dist with 12V also. Is this correct or do I need the resistor before the coil. The reson I ask is that my coil died after no more than 4 hrs on it.

Kind of hard to read but the top right corner is what I went by. (this is the Dist instructions)

Correct, NO ballast resistor. Just wire it up as shown in the first diagram.
