What would be the simplest way to replace the thrust bearing in my legend 12JG pump? I would rather not pull the transom apart. can I simply remove the suction piece and work from there?

The best way to do it ,is to pull the motor, if you dont want to pull the back of the boat apart, but if you have a 4 point motor mount setup, it would be easyer to pull the back apart then to pull the motor, the only other way to do it is if you do have a 4 point motor mount, then you can try to pull just your u-joints off if you can get to the bolts, depending on what type of bell housing you have!!!! good luck:idea:

That will not work, if it is your thrust bearing then you will have to dismantle the pump, the thrust bearing is pressed on and off the shaft its not as easy as just pulling it out, you might as well rebuild it.

there really is no "easy way"...although once you get into it you'll find it isn't all that difficult.
