Sorry I have not read this whole thread but when I was at the Miami show I asked the guy who painted all of the Cigarettes about paint versus gel and he said paint will last about 2 years (his words) and then they start to degrade, especially in salt.
Maybe he needs to switch product lines...thats nonsense....

I have painted a few things in my day too, and unless you are banging the hell out of the docks it should stay nice for awhile.
Definitely easier to chip and ding though!
But gel is no match for House of Color!

This is my launch ramp. Seriously. This is where I use a Nissan Maxima to launch my shiny, glitter gel Glastron.
It doesn't get too crowded, although I had to wait for someone once.
