Getting ready to have my engine 454 bored .060 over (4.310). I saw a mention somewhere on the forms that a marine block should run more clearence than street motor, what was that clearence?

.0015 to .002 more than the recommended standard automotive clearance of the piston mfg.

my 496 cid chevy, JE pistons, brodix alum. heads, barry grant 1150 carb is bored .007 over each miked piston. its a .060 over motor also. is in a texas tunnel hull running a 10 sec. 1/4 mile, 97 mph and turns 6300 rpm. no problems. have another boat thats a youngblood tx19 with a 468 cid, venolia pistons and its .010 over each miked piston. i built this motor in 1990 and i`ve not had a single problem. only one set of rod bearings. it all depends on your type/brand piston. i liked to run on the loose side of the "recommended" tolerances. i`ve tested and proven it to myself.

Just read on the other thread, that a blower motor will be different, which this will be. So what are the clearences for this application?

Hopefully you bought the pistons new,
The piston manufacture usually puts a card with your pistons letting you know the clearances.
Or else call them yourself and find out.

    Yep - - add .001-.002
Its cuz the cylinder stay cold & don't grow even though the piston does.
