I'm doing partol boat duty for the catalina ski race and was wondering what the procedure was for preping to get in the water and after I get it out . Never been in salt water . Just a good rinse and scrub and a bottle of salt terminator or what .

First rule is: If you can hoist it off the trailer instead of launching at a ramp, pay the extra and do it. If you have a tube trailer, that is a killer. You won't ever get the salt out; and rust never sleeps.
Next, if you have any carpet in the boat, take it out (if possible).
If you want to be really cool, before you hit the salt, wipe down any metal parts with a rag soaked in WD-40. It will make clean up a lot easier. Then, beyond that, have a great time, and wash it with soap and water when you are done.
If you do have to launch at a ramp, they usually have a hose-off for the boat/trailer. Bring a hose. The sooner you get it all rinsed off the better.
    Wish I was going.

Grease and lube everything you can to help keep out the salt water.
When your done in the salt water wash and flush everything the best you can. Then get to fresh water soon as possible and run the boat and let your trailer soak.

-jGreat advice- wet WD will save a lot of polished and chrome. Lot and Lots of soap and water after. Also the bigger boat places sell a product that cuts thru salt on flushing your motor thats great- (TOO OLD) Can't remember the name now, maybe someone else will. or go to Boat World Etc to find.
Is Doc of Dry Dock still into the Catalina Ski thing.

Best place on the water behind the breakwater. On land is by the Queen Mary.
