    I remember hearing about it while it was happening. Very eerie sitch and ultimately sad. He was a colorful guy to say the least.

    Remember it like it was yesterday. Was a very sad day. He had many more tournaments to win.

    My son is actually named in honor of Justin Leonard, one of the heroes of the 1999 Ryder Cup, Payne's last big event and something that most American golf fans will never forget. Justin was on our short list of names and he was born just hours after Leonard snaked that putt in to halve.
    Great group of guys. Justin was always one of my favorites. I miss seing Payne on the course in his knickers.

    Remember it well. Wasn't long after he beat out Phil Mickelson who was ready to bolt the course if his wife went into labor with their first.
