So ... I was in need of a rounded keel intake for a boat I am rebuilding ...
I came across an intake that needed work, but that was good for what I am looking for ... an intake that was worthy of modifying/rebuilding ...
I figured as I started this project, I would share my progress for those of you who are interested ...
I will be starting at clean up, work my way through the machine work for a shoe and ride plate, powder coating & finally installation ... it started this morning with about 2 hours of clean up ...
    so, here we go ...

I started with a donor rounded keel intake that was in need of serious work:

the passenger side intake fin has been severly ground down ... ouch:

this one I took to show the rounded keel section ... if it were a flat keel intake ... it would not have this radius ... it would be ... well, flat ... (you can also see the difference of the 2 fins here, I don't even want to know how or why they were that ground down ):

now we move onto cleaning ... I started by knocking out the old cut off bolts that were used to install the intake, moved on to using a penetrant to assist in aiding with the removal of the rock grate screws (let sit for 20 minutes or so then I use a #3 phillips bit on my cordless impact gun), then to my angle grinder w/ 80 grit sanding disc to clean off the epoxy, then cleaning it with scotch brite and dish soap ...

geez man, I thought it was rather obvious....so it can make sharper left turns!
you might as well leave it that way for the roundy round boat

Hey cas,...Busby is obviously board outta his skull, lets let him go so that we can see his style and mad skillz!

I'm looking forward to see the progress on the project. It's also a good thing to see someone starting from the bottom up...literally.
The shorter outside fin might even help keep the pump loaded in those sharp turns.
