There use to be quite a few 5.0 single turbo kits that used one long tube and a short tube to feed a side mounted turbo. The farther away you mount the turbo the more lag you may have and more heat on the intake side from spinning the turbo tighter because of the heat loss with a longer tube on the exhaust side. But it may not matter as much as not running an intercooler will.
