Yes, most remote start products that I've used have diesel settings. We use Autopage at WFS, they have them, so do Clifford, which I've installed in the past.
Perfect, I'll head to WFS when the truck is ready.
Thanks, KELLY
Remote start can be quite difficult on today's newer cars. I'd make sure they have a competent security specialist before they did a job for me. Auto security and audio couldn't be more different.
SWB- Is it poss. to install remote start on a diesel motor that requires you to wait for the coil to warm?? Does anyone make a system that has like some kind of delay while it heats up.

My Valet pager alarm starts my Powerstroke.
It's made by Directed Electronics, they make Clifford, Valet, Viper, Python, and various other names with the same product. They have a module that will work on just about any type of vehicle. Almost all car stereo shops install alarms, for most of them it's the biggest percentage of their business.

But the Lakers suck !!! :yuk:
Security makes up a very small percentage of most audio shop's business and an even smaller profit center. The installed price is maxed out at ~$500 and the higher end products are extremely time consuming. A "good" security install, not a Circuit City type job, can take upwards of 3-4 hours. Everybody hates security, but it's a necessary evil.
I agree it may not be the most profit of the business, but it seems like every one is willing to buy an alarm, not everyone wants to upgrade their stereo system. It's hard to make a good profit on a 250.00 dollar alarm when you have a couple of hours labor and parts into it. Much easier to move a head unit that's marked up 30 or 40 percent and install it in 30 minutes. Same with overheads and headrest monitors, you get a decent mark up and the installations are relatively easy.
