chevy 427

boat is now parke for the winter and motor is out looking to mod it any good ideas? how big can you bore a 427? what kind of hp can you get out a 427 or should i just styart a new motor from scratch???any ideas will help...thanks

O.K. I'll bite. I thought a 427 was a stroked down 454, If thats the case 496 is easy. My 427 has been to 5.9 k ,for a while, several times,with "stock" dimple (ls6) rods. If your gonna sling a 496 that tight (rpm's) you better get ready to lay down some $. Or is a 427 a stroked up 396? Hey longstr what did you buy?????

Well actually a 427 is a 427...but a 454 is a 427 factory stroker.
Some 427s even used the 454 block with the 7.4L cast into it. Not sure how common that was though.
