I've had my boat for a year now and have always heard that it was the same hull as a Tahiti. Then today I see an 80 model Hallet on Ebay with the exact same lines and dimensions??

That's the old 19 Spectra. Jerry Gilbreath who worked for both Tahiti and Hawaiian back in the day bought the molds when Spectra went tits up and sold them as GMT or something to that effect. Eliminator had those molds and the two of them worked out some kind of arangement. If Tahiti was building them, this was after I worked there, you can bet money that they splased one, and did not use the original molds.

Was Tahiti building the hulls for Hardin Marine? My boat's an 89 model and the Hallett on Ebay is an 80. That left plenty of times for the mold to be passed around.
Now for my next question. What's that hull's strong points? I know it's a full stringer design (quad stringers actually). It seems like a it's a think layup so it probably weighs a ton or so.
Could this hull be turned into a performer with more engine?

Hardin was Tahiti and Caribean. They put out the 2 different brand of boats in the same shop. Hardin was the third builders of Tahiti.

The hull is solid for a 19' boat and because of its weight and build (the 4 stringer versions), will handle rougher water better than other comparable sized jets. They are nice hulls depending on who laid them up, but they aren't going to be as fast as some of the 18'ers out there with equal HP. As an example, Hack Jobs went 89 or 90 on it's first time out with 735hp.
If I was going to own a smaller 18/19' boat for all around use, that would be the one hands down.
On another note, I have never seen one done by Hallett, so I guess we can add that to the list of mfgs who utilized that mold or a splash thereof. Based upon the year of the boat, I'd guess that they rigged a couple before the deal was struck with Eliminator.

    Yeah Chris,
Hallett had their version of the 18 spectra, but I've never seen one of these 19's by them either. Could be though?
