Bolt a steel plate on it somewhere....
Any suggestions on how you guys do this? Like to check some things out on an assembled engine. Thanks.

Bolt a steel plate on it somewhere....
I C clamped the mag base to the front side of the head to check cam timing on #1
We do the same as BDMar. Get a little piece of steel and drill some holes and mount it on the valve cover rail!!!
I was thinking the metal plate on the valve cover bolts but wasn't sure it would work. How thick of metal for the plate? Hadn't thought of the C clamp. Thanks for the help.
Tim
Just buy an aluminum magnet base.

1/8-1/4 is good. Whatever is thick enough that it doesn't flex

You might get both some flat plate steel and angle iron. The angle iron seems to give me more options.
An aluminum magnet would be nice too. I haven't seen any in my catalogs though. Maybe if you just hold it real steady and don't move.

Thats the answer I was looking for!!!!! I thought there might be something like this. Now if some one can tell me where I can find one. I hope it dosen't cost to much.
