Thread: motor mount bolts through stringers

    I have a question maybe you guys can help me with i notice that the motor mount bolts that go through the stringers are starting to pull through, is this from over thighting or what. what can i do to fix this right. do they make some kind of plate that goes on the outside, any help would be appreciated, 79 eliminator

    I usually just fabricate some 3/16- 1/4 inch X 4-6 inches alumium plates to use as a backing plate to the stringer.(this will spread the load). I've seen them used on both sides, but usually the engine mounting hardware spreads the load pretty well. ...Moneypitt

    Doubler plates as described if it is too late for stringer washers.
    While the bolts are out - mix up some resin and coat the boat holes using a q-tip or equivalent.
