i built a bbc with a pair of 850 double pumpers, do you guys think a 135 gal. per hour "MANUAL" pump with #8 fuel line will be enough? p.s. the carbs are on a 671 littlefield

I would go with an Electric if your running a blower motor with those DP's.

    Be afraid...
Look out for lean burn backfires if you are going to try the manual. Use a fuel pressure gauge to ensure you never drop below 5 pounds or so, and once you have checked these boxes, pin the throttle under a load for a few seconds then shut it off and check the plugs. If it is lean... no, it isn't enough. NOTHING will kill a blown motor faster than running lean.
You get really good at pulling plugs with a huffer!

this isnt a cheap manual......you have to run a regulator with it ..i think its a holley or mallory pump.....still not good??

Run the manual pump, I have been using a manual pump now for 2 years without a lick of problem. My set up is 460ci 2 950 hollys and BDS bar regular set at 7 1/2 lbs. and at 6500 rpm does not drop any fuel psi. Thats with a 871 blower with 10 lbs. of boost. The thing I like the best is if the carb ever floods motor dies and doesn't keep pumping gas into the engine. My .02 cents

Not saying it won't work, just make sure to check off some boxes before you go running willy-nilly towards a re-build. If you have good pressure all the way up, no dramas. If you are not running lean at the big end... no dramas. I actually prefer the manual for a million reasons, #1 of which is that I have yet to not be stranded by an electric pump that s@#t the bed. Just make sure in three easy steps that you are supplying your engine with enough juice, and count your blessings that a manual works well for you.
