The Park service announced yesterday effective at sunrise Saturday May 10th the ban on pwc`s is lifted. There will be some restrictions as to where they will be allowed. I will post more info as I have time. I know, &^%$%^ jet skis, who cares... If we let them take pwc`s, next it will be outboards, then high perf. boats or ?? Remember Hitler said the weapons would be returned after they were inspected!!

Yet another defeat for the Bluewater Network, but they'll keep trying. Damn tree huggers!

LAKE POWELL OPENS TO PERSONAL WATERCRAFT as early as May 10th. BlueRibbon, along with a Coalition of Business Owners and other Recreation Groups has Settled Lawsuit With National Park Service
Personal watercraft (PWC) owners will be back on Lake Powell this summer as the result of a lawsuit filed by local business owners and recreational access groups in March of 2003. The lake was to remain closed to the small boats until at least late summer as the National Park Service completed a special rule to allow them to return. The recent settlement in the coalition's lawsuit with the National Park Service will result in the opening of the lake to PWC enthusiasts as early as May 10, 2003.
The lawsuit was filed by a coalition of small business owners from around the lake, including two Page, Arizona PWC-oriented businesses, and three recreational access organizations, the American Watercraft Association, BlueRibbon Coalition, and Utah Shared Access Alliance. Lead counsel for these parties is BlueRibbon's recreational lawyer Paul Turcke of Boise, Idaho. Please see our BlueRibbon website of www.sharetrails.org for media release with details of the settlement.
I know this is good news to all who have helped in the effort to get PWCs back on Lake Powell. However, we all need to see the current Environmental Impact Statement process at Lake Powell completed.
In addition, we all need to be mindful that the anti-PWC groups, like Bluewater, will not take a final decision allowing PWCs on Lake Powell without a new wave of legal challenges. I encourage you to join the BlueRibbon Coalition, if you are not already a member, and consider a contribution to the Lake Powell PWC Legal Fund. We must be prepared to meet the next challenge to PWC access to Lake Powell access.
Again, thank you for your help and enjoy your PWC access to Lake Powell!
Note: Membership and contribution information is our website www.sharetrails.org or call 1-800-258-3742.
Contribution for the Lake Powell PWC Defense Fund should be sent to:
