Thread: LA TIMES on Parker accidents 9/28

Thanks Rexone, I was wondering about the status of the investigation.
My friend had a 1970 Sanger that turned suddenly and unexpectedly when the woodruff key on the rudder sheared off. Fortunately no one was injured.
As for the article, you nailed what I was trying to get at. The writer/reporter decided to paint this like the wild west of boating, and wrote the artilcle with the appropriate quotes. There is a certain amount of truth to that "the pen is mightier than the sword" cliche'.

Another left wing asshole from the East Coast.
The Times is a pinko rag I would only use for toilet paper if I was out of turpentine-soaked 60 grit.
I tell ya, the damned colleges turn out these liberally prorammed media employee morons ready to barf up the same left wing socialist propaganda they took down their throats at college.
What the f*ck happened to personal responsibility?
It's society's fault that there isn't a rule book on every street corner, so I'm a victim?
Oh I want to kick that idiot right in the baked goods!
The whole left wing journalist culture can eat a dick as far as I am concerned.
I already have a Mommy, don't need you
    Thanks

    Water couches??
    Howz about 'roaches'?
Sheesh... we got this type of reporter around here too. Remember the Baja that hit the bank and jumped the interstate last month??

It would be very nice for an articulate response to the Times that could be published in the letters section. Since the article was slanted toward Parker and my personal boating is limited to the wackyness in Havasu, I don't feel "qualified" to respond. I realize a majority of the accidents are PWC involved, inexperience,
or the DUI involvement, but these articles will get Joe Blow citizen to have very negative opinion of performance boating and the elected representives may eventually enact an over the edge law in response. Lawdy help us. Duck

Yeah CA Stu, couldn't have spewed better myself. The times is a liberal rag of the first order. The reporter probably belongs to the Bluewater Network too...

    Yeah, Duck...
The Bluewater Network has nearly been able to ban PWCs from lakes all over the place because of press just like this.
I have both PWC and boat, the problem with the PWC is people can get into them for not a hell of a lot of money and have no clue about proper boating practice. It'd be nice if that would change, but I just hope this kind of article doesn't snowball into some feelgood piece of legislation that keeps all of us from pursuing our weekend passion.

Not quite sure what you meant by that, but I will say this.
If liberal enviro wacko groups like bluewater network succeed in banning one type of watercraft, what is to stop them from going after all powered watercraft? It would just be a matter of time.

I believe the Bluewater Network are the ones who tried to ban PWC from Powell, and almost made it.
Next worry will be the noise issue, but thats another thread.

The article was total stupidity. Water couches? I have never heard that term and it makes no sense at all. 1 in 10 drunk? Considering the legal limit and the situation, that is probably a good thing. That reporter will probably advocate seatbeats in boats and outlawing being barefoot while driving.
