Pontoon speed record

It was announced recently that Play Craft regained the official pontoon speed record with a 28' Extreme model doing 81 mph It apparently had a pair of 300 HP outboards. Right now there appears to be a speed war between Play Craft and another maker to have the fastest production pontoon.

They use to have pontoon races at havasu. Anybody remember those? I never saw them, but read about them in the paper, etc.
Imagine getting you a** handed to you by a pontoon boat. cry

I p/u the boat trader today and saw a 26' pantoon for 46k. 5.7 350 i/o. No matter what engine is in there I cant see spending 46k on a pantoon.
