sorry to hear that.I heard he had a great running jet.
Ronnie Mercer passed away in his sleep last night. Many of you will know him from the San Jacinto river in Houston. There were not many weekends we didn't see his Jet Boat on the river, and in fact he was out last Sunday.
The money has been borrowed to pay for his funeral.
Brady Kimbro is setting up an account to take donations to pay for his funeral.
I will post more info as I get it.

Wobble:
I remember the name, but can't place the face with it. If you talk to Brady, tell him to help me place the name with the face.

I remember who Ronnie is now.....
In Waco....a long time ago.....Ronnie and his brother had pitted the day before and when Earl McCoy got there, he started moving their stuff so that he could park and made some kind of comment and Ronnie went to his pits and got a wrench and hit Earl right on the head with it.....!
My dad was Race Director and had to throw Ronnie and his brother out of the event....I had to take Earl to the hospital!
And you guys are right....he always had a hard running boat!
Ronnie and Mike Ward (mikespumpandspeed) were best friends most of their lives.
Ronnie mellowed out in his later years and organized many an outlaw race both for jets and outboards here on the river
Very sorry to hear that, but I guess if you have to go, that's the way to do it. Did he run the Double Nickel boat?
The San Jacinto river will not be the same with out Ronnie. He was a very nice person and he will be missed.

You're thinking about Ronnie Eckels from Ok City.
Another colorful character in the SDBA archives....!
