Thread: BEWARE of All Seasons Marine in Boulder City, NV

BUYER BEWARE! The owner, Ted Miller of All Seasons Marine in Boulder City, NV, is not someone I would advocate a deal with.
Through the grape vine, I recently found out that Ted had a vintage Mercury motor down there that my dad was interested in. A trip to the shop and pictures later, Ted and my dad agreed on a price and the deal was struck. My dad sent a cashiers check to me, since I would be picking the engine up at the shop, and had me start working on a shipping crate to get it back to FL.
The check arrives about 4 biz days after they struck the deal. A day or so later, I call to inform Ted that I have the check in hand, but due to SEMA being in town, will not be able to make it down until the week after. His son took the message and said he would relay it. Two days later I call back to reconfirm and speak with Ted, and even set a date for pickup now that I had procured a shipping crate. He had no problem with this and we made a date for Monday the 10th.
Over this weekend, I got pretty sick, even ended up in the hospital Sunday morning with a 104* fever. Called ASM on Monday to move the appointment back to Tuesday and again spoke with one of Ted's sons. He said he'd tell Ted, but for me to call on Tuesday and try to speak directly with Ted.
Upon calling Ted today, he's decided not to sell now. His reasons ranged from "you were supposed to send a deposit" - which wasn't mentioned the week before when I spoke to him, to "someone called and said it's worth more".
Nice way to do business. Now I've gone out of my way to shoot pics, my dad had a cashiers check made up, shipped it overnight to me here in Vegas from Florida, I found a shipping crate and get it all scheduled, THEN he backs out.
In the end, I'm a firm believer in "what comes around, goes around" and I'm sure Ted and All Seasons Marine will get (or not get) theirs.
I'm hoping my fellow boating bretheren can help me let All Seasons Marine "feel" some of theirs.

Really though, that sucks. Sometimes I wonder how it is people are able to stay in business. You know that shit aint a once in great while thing with these guys. **** 'em. Put it this way, it wasn't meant to be and you and your pop will be better when you find the motor that was meant to be

That's a bummer Keith. ASM services my boat once a year and I never have had any problems with them. I guess service and sales are two different things.

I'm with Eagle. Mike at ASM got my boat up and running while others couldn't. If my friends or I have any more problems with our boats then I'll be asking Mike for Help. Sorry about your Motor. You snooze, You loose. I always say!

    Keith,
All of those ASM guys are pricks. There are plenty of people that do not use ASM anymore because of stories like yours. I, for one, have always thought they are dicks. If you dont have a blown 600+ HP motor, they could care less. F*&^ those guys and they will get what they deserve.
They are very lucky that you are a mild manored person that did not walk in and start throwing fists.
MMRED, The snooze you lose comment is bullshit. He quoted a legit price as a business man and now is trying to screw somebody for a few bucks. I always say, KARMA IS A BITCH.

I'm wondering why he didn't send the check directly to ASM?
They would have deposited it and as soon as they did they would have been a party to a binding contract, then you might have had some recourse with this dick.

Its a shame that we can't even count on ones promise anymore. Sorry to hear the deal broke up. Guess some promises hold more water than others.
Another thing that strikes me too is the fact that this guy is a "marine specialist" yet seemingly didn't know the motors real value???? hhhmmmm, some specialist

Don't know the guys at ASM, but after reading the post, I don't entirely blame the guy. Sounds like a deal was made and you did not pick the motor up when promised. Never count on someone else to relay an important msg, hell I sometimes I don't get my messages for days! (and my wifes my asst.). On the other hand I hate when someone breaks a promise and the guy probably should have been more understanding. All said, I think I will avoid ASM.
Too bad you couldn'd work it out.

    Hey Thor,
How long would you expect ASM to wait? If a guy is selling a vintage motor you better jump on it before he changes his mind. If a guy is selling a 1/2 acre parcel of land for 100K here in Vegas. You better jump on it before he goes and tell his wife. Thats the way things are done here in Vegas. If you don't like it, well then I guess you don't get to have it! Sleepy.
