I've tried various paint over the years, but nothing works.
I plan to try the "flecto" plastice paint.
    Any suggestions??

Just make sure your prep work is good and lot's of stuff will stick. Imron is great stuff and I don't think you'll need enough of it to be pricey. Rustoleum Epoxy paint and Hammerite are also really good. The Hammerite that I painted the center of the rims on my truck have stood up too almost 5 years of mud, sand, rocks and the occasional "get mad at truck, kick tire, hit rim, break toe" routine. Good luck!!

I bought some zinc based primer and merc paint at my local marine shop and it has been great for a year now

Is the zinc based primer the key, because I too used the "Mercruiser" brand phantom black paint, and there is a spot the size of a dime on each side near the bottom of the skeg where the paint won't stick. It looks great at first, but one trip, and the paint is gone. It is quite odd.
