Thread: 21' Eliminator

    I currently have a 1990 21' Eliminator V-Bottom speed
boat, with a 454 mercruiser magnum with a bravo drive.
The stringers have to be replaced, because they appear to be "bulging"
the fibreglass on the stringers does not look tight to the wood, but
bowing out, and when hit with a hammer, sounds like the echo of a
garbage can. And when hitting waves the engine to appears to be on to on
"rubber band" mounts, and moves around at least 1"
I'm having a fibreglass professional do the glass work, but I would
appreciate your input on any comments &/or suggestions. The person doing
the work is recommending going the full length (12' estimate) of the
stringers with new floors fibreglass on both sides. The transom sounds
solid, but when the gimbal comes out we will see if that is true.
The person who is doing the leak down and rebuild on the 454 is
suggesting having the motor raised 2", so the drive is higher, and less
resistance, with the correct prop should have a speed gain of 3 - 7 mph.
    This would be great.
I currently run 5,000 RPM 76 MPH turing a 25" SS Mirage prop. I do not
ski with it, and usually it is only me and my wife, so a total passenger
weight of 330 lbs + gas. Rarely do I have passengers, so take of with
passengers is not big deal to me, but speed is my main goal.
Also, on one of your shows you had this "plastic" type of material used
in seating, called "starlite" or Starboard. Who manufactures that
product, or who in Canada sells it?
Thank you very much in advance.

Dont rebuild the transom to raise the outdrive call Imco thay have a lower gearcase that is 1" or 2" shorter than stock this would keep you from having to move every thing up 2" good luck EWB.

Thanks for the reply, I like this idea, this way if I change boats, I can keep the drive. I currently run 76 MPH(on speedo) with the 21' Eliminator v-bottom (with pad) 454 mag w/cmi turing a 25" mirage 5000 RPM, On saturday I had a leak down done on the motor, and 3 cylinders are around 90lbs (my compression tester said one @ 90, 2 @ 115, the reat @ 140. He is advising complete rebuild, and upgrading the 420 HP, which is cams, intake & holley carb. What speed increases are realistic, I'm guessing 5 MPH, to make bring MAG back to stock, 5 MPH to 420HP, and 5 MPH to raise gear case. This ad's up to 90 MPH! SOunds to good, what would you guess??
And thanks again, I really appreciate it.

to be sure how fast you are going get a gps my speedo was 10 mph fast I would think low 80's is possible but that is my thinking all this is still new to me but I can tell you is If you want to go fast put a procharger or whipple charger on it best of luck Eric.
