Thread: windsheild question

I'm trying to find a windshield and windows for my 1975 Sleek executive. My boat came without the above items, so finding the correct ones is getting frustrating. Who made the originals, and who should I talk to?

I have found that resources for windshields for older boats are few and far between.
While I got this from a Glastron site, you may find the links of some help.

This co. lists Sleekcraft as one the available replacements they make, along with lots of others and they also do custom work,

I don't have a windshield on mine and I like it that way but I do have the side windows and wouldn't mind a small hatch up front for light and ventilation, let's see a larger picture of your boat, I like the color, what else do you have planed for it ?

These are not original but might be of some use,

They pop up on ebay every so often,

That is my plan also is to put a hatch on the lower deck to help push air through the cabin. In the summer it is almost unbareable to sit under there. I might put the side windows in, but I really want some smoked glass windows in the front to give riders a forward view. The boat was really abused when I got it, so it's been an ongoing project first converting it from a Jacuuzi YJ to a high output Berkeley JC, then replacing the original OLDS to a Mopar. I had a 400 stroker B1 engine then a guy wanted to buy it for his vdrive, so I put together a 1964 426 max wedge that I had sitting around. I gutted the inside down to the bare hull and started fresh with new stringers that run full lenght, new floor, new carpet, new wireing, new gauges, new cables. I'm now working on the new seats and upolstery. It's a good soild old classic and worth restoring. I also have a 26 Ambassador thats all original and in mint condition. It has a stock 454 that runs good, but barely gets the boat to 45mph. I'm building a 528 Hemi for it. It will have a Mooneyham 871 blower and be fuel injected, but right now i'm only collecting parts. I'm leaving the boat as is till i'm ready for the swap. Steve

I put a few Wayne-Earl portholes on my old daycruiser. I also got a hatch from them...but I'm not sure I'd go white again, as the sun will yellow the frame over time.

I also got my windshield from Wayne-Earl, but it's not the original. The original was a reverse splash-guard...which was a little too dated for my liking. They built me a custom one, and I had a custom rail put on above it, to keep it from getting damaged.
Wayne-Earl even had an original Wreidt brochure from the 70's...with my boat on the cover. They did alot for So Cal builders over the years.

As a fellow Mopar nut, I was dying about the comment of having a 426 Wedge "that I had sitting around." Pretty rare parts. I can say that about 440, 383, 340, 273 parts. It definitely ads to the cool factor. I machined my own parts when I swapped my Olds out for the 440. I would like to check out your install.
I can't wait for you to finish your 528, are you planning on attending any ***boat events this season? We need more Dodge boys out here.
Check out the Pentastar in the interior pics.

Hey Brian, Yeah i'm an old diehard mopar fan. Your motor looks great, Indy heads must be nice!! My Maxxie has newer 452 heads that I ported. They are at moparmecca right now getting the royal treatment. I bought my block without the heads or they were missing. I just wanted the stout bottom end. I'm putting in a new 4.15in eagle crank. I choose the speedpro dome top pistons with floating pins. It will be interesting to see how she runs. I have some pic's posted in the jetboat image section if you want to see the install. I would like to find some extractor manifolds and ditch the logs, but thats wishfull thinking. I currently have the 528 block, blower, and heads. Need to find the crank, rods, pistons ect. It will be two more years to finish. My 2004 schedule right now is Parker May 5th- 15th and the classic boat beach bash in Aug. Keep me posted on any other events as i'm always looking for an excuse to travel. Steve
