I am looking at buying a new/used boat. It has a 502w/bravo 3. What is the story with these things? can they handle as much hp as a bravo 1? what are the advantages and disadvantages? any advise would be great. thanks Dean

I have a B3 on my cruiser and I believe they can handle the same hp as the B1's. The advantages from the 2 props is you get a better hole shot, especially on stern heavy boats. They also provide more thrust for backing up and easier slow speed manuevering. The biggest disadvantage is that now you have a chance of ruining 2 props on one sandbar. Also if you want to change props in an effort to get more speed you've got 2 to swap out. As for difference in top speed I've heard that it either makes no difference or the B3 is slightly less, I'm not sure which is correct. On a cruiser type boat a B3 is definitely worthwhile, I'm not so sure on a performance boat.

    Hey Deano,
You gonna get that 28 or what?
Let me know, I'll cruise down with ya so we can get a test drive before you tow it home.
