I run a 28ft F-1 pantera. With a 500efi itran 81 on gps, and with the 700hp blower motor it runs 92mph, it weighs 4500lbs
It's the [hull]bottom design that makes Velocity fly,not just weight reduction alone http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif

Panteraman, I've been on a 24 Pantera long time ago [it was very narrow 7 feet I think]and it rode excellent in rough water.Another boat with similar beam was the 27 Excalibur. What's the beam of your Pantera? It's very rare to see one in the west. Are they still popular back east?
Sorry, but the only thing that has credibility with me is something reported in the press. Last year Powerboat Mag compared a bunch of F-1 boats, among them the Pantera.
I'll re-check the article, but the last I checked, in any published boat test the Velocity is still the fastest 28 horsepower for horsepower.

Velocity always had one of the fastest hulls in the industry - I believe their 30-footer was the first V-bottom to hit 100mph back in the early 80's.
I'd buy one in a second if I could afford it. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif
Good luck if you do buy one.
I have also heard power for power and size for size, the Velocity is fastest. I looked at a Velocity 260 this weekend. They said it would do 67 with a 310 hp 7.4 MPI.
Spectre, a 27 foot Excalibur was the best riding boat I have ever personally been on. It wasn't real fast, 54 with a 330 hp 454, but man, what a smoothe ride!
Udafed, you have email.
Here is one thread on velocity from OSO.

Good luck on your purchase....
Udafed....Jo Nunez' 28 foot F-1 Pantera would indeed break the 80 mph mark.
As for believing only what is reported.....hell I don't believe anything I read and only half of what I see.

The new Laveycraft 2750 Nu Era looks like a sweet set-up. They just did an article in one of the recent mags. It ran over 70 mph with single power running a 496HO. That's awesome! The price was somewhhat reasonable too. The only thing I don't understand is why they call it a 2750?? The boat actually measures out to 28'6".
