I just tried to call my dad and mom told me he was at the lake. I said at the lake with who, doing what???? She said my dad's buddy who works for the FBI called and they were going to Castaic to test a new boat the FBI just got. He's gonna get an earful when I talk to him again. I'll see if he took any pics and post them later tonight if he did.

A few months ago I met with a rep from Brunswick Corp. (Boston Whaler, Sea Ray, Bayliner, Mercury Marine, etc.)
They have acquired Baja Marine, and are aggressively marketing the Baja line to Government agencies as a high speed alternative to Boston Whaler.
I must say, the 27' I looked at, rigged to Govt. Specs, was pretty impressive. It's a modified version of the Sportfish outboard model, and rigged with twin 250's, was definitely a screamer.
Might be a little big for my needs on the Strip, but the next time I need a new patrol boat, I'll definitely be looking at the 24'.

Hopefully they are giving the gov a good discount otherwise they are blowing some serious tax payer bucks. I priced a Baja 242 Islander against an ultra 247. The baja starts in the 60's and the Ultra starts in the 40's. The Ultra is a way nicer boat so why the extra money for something mass produced?

Here it is, your taxpayers dollars hard at work. It is a 27' Boston whailer with twin Merc225's. It is outfitted with full sonar, gps, radar, and the list goes on to the tune of $110,000. Top speed on this boat at Castaic today was 47mph. This particular boat is for the FBI's ERT Dive and recovery team. The platform will be used to accomidate divers and ROV's.

On the dash, behind my dad on the left, is full color sonar and radar screens. You can also see the cuddy cabin.

Under the hatch is a generator to supply all your auxillary power needs.

Notice the Tow vehicle. Black F250 quad cab 4x4 diesel. Blacked out windows, sun visor, rear window and grill mounted emergency lights, siren, full emergency radio communications, heavy duty front and rear bumpers with winch.
