Thread: Best Batteries

I am curious to see what kind of batteries everyone uses. I know everyone will probably say "go get optimas" but I dont know how hot I am on paying $300 plus for some batteries. I'm not running a super crazy stereo, just a modest setup. I like die hards and have always put them in my cars. I have Interstates now and they have been good for me but I want to see what everyone else thinks. Like I said, I dont want to blow all my money on some top notch batteries I probably wont need.

Currently have 2 die hards grp 24s nothing special but i can play my stereo for 45 minutes then dead but i am going to get some golf cart 6vs very soon for the stereo so i can get long play time(trying to get some of my monies worth out of the die hard batt)
Warning that HH guy disagrees wit 6v he has cigarette ego and optima envy

I have your standard marine Interstate batteries. I crank my
stereo and my boat all day, all summer, and have no problems.

I use 4-Optimas and 1-Odessy for the boat. Of course I have my priorities straight. I can play the stereo all day without a problem. I just charge them at night and when I leave I turn the batteries off via the Perko switch

That is, by far, the best battery longevity I've ever heard of.

ok, what is the proper amps & procedure for charging a gel battery.
i've been told NOt to charge them & not to run an alternator that it over charges and burns up the battery.
got good use(4 yrs.) out of a red top interstate, but had to recently purchase a new one!

I have 2 Interstate Grp 24 marine batteries for the stereo and 1 Centenial Grp 24 marine for the starter. Works fine so far.
