I just got this boat less motor. It is a 70's Tahiti we think. I have
never had a jet before and I am not sure if i should use a flyweel
or a flex plate on the Olds 455 that I am putting in. Can someone
    help me out here?

Most 455s I have seen in boats came with the flywheel.
Probabably for durability for starter engagement.
If you can locate a flywheel for a good price you might think about finding a reputable machinist and have it drilled (lightened)if it isn't too expensive.

My '77 Sanger 460 came with a flexplate.

Get rid of that fly wheel you do not need to build kinetic energy!
I put a stock Olds flex plate in many years(8-9) and have had no problems at all.
    You'll rev up faster too!
