Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places in the world, in my opinion. It is the largest alpine lake in north America, if memory serves me correct.
If you have a small boat, be careful, the wind comes up in the afternoon, and it can get rougher than you would believe. Even in the summer, the water is too cold for swimming for most folks.
The lake is down a bit, there is a public ramp in Tahoe City, and several around the lake.
Enjoy it, make sure you take the time to eat at Garwoods in north shore, and take the long walk down to the state park in Crystal Bay, it is worth the effort. There is a lot of private property around the lake edge, if it looks like a private beach in front of a 10 mil house, it is...
It takes about two and a half hours to drive around the lake (+-)
on the road, and there are things to check out all around it. If you are in to bicycling, the trails around the lake are very popular and beautiful.
The best steak in Tahoe is at a Steakhouse right next to the last Casino headed south. I think it was Kennedy's or something like that. Not cheap, but great food.
Just looked at your profile, you'll be fine on the lake, watch for rocks as you come in close to the ramp or shore. You will be able to boat right in to Crystal Bay and beach it...awesome!
