Thats about what my 514 runs cold. goes down to 60 warm. I have a HV pump
My buddy has a 460 in his boat and I noticed that his oil pressure reads between 70 and 80. Is this normal for a ford?

Do different brands of Big blocks run at different pressures? If they do what are each supposed to run at? Engines with no mods.
454,455,460
mine ran near 70 at full throttle about 45-50 idle.
455 olds>>> -15 psi at WOT and -25 at idle
454 bbc>>>> 70-89 WOT and 55-60 at idle
460 dunnooooo sorry i would have to say the fords probably have if not less as good press as chevy.
eric
My 460BBF idles at 60, and runs off the edge of my 80psi gauge at anything above 2000rpm. Now if i could just manage to keep the oil from coming out my valve-cover breather, i would be set...
Thanx for the imfo.

Do different brands of Big blocks run at different pressures? If they do what are each supposed to run at?Many things affect oil pressure: The lubricant and it's viscosity, it's operating temperature, how used it is; oil pump brand/type/bypass pressure; bearing clearances, etc. The list is almost endless...even lifter bore cleanances affect oil pressure. From one motor to another/same or different brands.
