Here's a dumb question for you guys.
Is it necessary to run a Dooley oil pan or can I just run a Milodon or a Moroso oil pan? Do I need a windage tray?
I just don't want to pony up $400 for a 14 qt Dooley if it's not necessary.
    thanks,
    cjet

Not a dumb question but rather than go through it all again, try this old oil pan thread for your answer.

I run a Milodon in my drag boat and it wasn't a hell of a lot less expensive than a Canton or Dooley. In a lake boat windage trays are okay, but then again there is just that much more stuff to fall off in the oil pan.

But anyway, my take on it is that you don't have to run a Dooley brand. Milodon and Moroso both make a fine pan. I would not go smaller then 10 qt if you can.
As far as the windage try goes. It would be nice but if your not building a high rpm deal it's prolly not that big of a deal.
