I would run a double pumper on a jet. It allows it to rev higher faster an create more pressure to the jet. Therefore, acceleration is much better. I just added a Holley 800 cfm 9022 marine double pumper on my 454 mag and acceleration increased significantly. It had a Holley 780 vacumm carb on before. The double pumper actually gets better mileage and the boat runs much better.
I am considering a double pumper to replace the vacuum secondaries carb on my boat. Did you upgrade the intake manifold also? The double pumper really had a noticeable effect on acceleration? How about throttle response? Just wondering. What size boat are you running?
Its a 21' foot 18 degree bottom with 4 lifting strakes. I has a decent intake manifold already. Its an Edelbrock RPM Performer. Acceleration was signifcantly better.

I have found that you should 1st have both your heads and logs milled flat then use both a metel gasket and high temp rtv. It should be problem free for 80 - 120 hrs.

I HAVE A 460 AND LOGS. I USE A FEL-PRO # 1419 GASKET WITH NO SEALER AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM.
