You're going to require a certain data plan. Call Verizon and ask if they have a Phone as Modem plan. Your speed should be OK w/that phone since it is EVDO.
I have a LG8300 cell phone and a Dell laptop with bluetooth. I can pair the two together, but I can not establish an internet connection. Do I need to subscribe to mobile web 2.0 to get a connection? or is there something else I need to do?
Any thoughts?

Verizon wants $59.00 a month. I have wireless connections at home and at the River, I just need a connection 5 or 6 times a month from my car while I'm on the road, WTF?
Wow! I was thinking it was going to be around $20.
Is there any wireless cards that charge less than $60 a month that actually work?
Keep in mind with a wireless card you will have a contract. If you use your 8300 as a modem you can add or remove the data feature at any time. There is no agreement required when it is an add on feature. $60 is about as cheap as it is going to get for reliable unlimited wireless data service.
That's still a lot. You can have a Sprint Blackberry w/data service for $20 less than that and that includes unlimited email, web-browsing, and data to have the Blackberry operate as a modem for your laptop.
Do a search on hacking the phone for use as a modem. I have Verizon Wireless and it is possible to do it. You will have to be careful about how much bandwidth you use cause if you get caught they shut you down, but if you only need it 5-6 times a month that shouldnt be a problem.
