Hey Zudnic, we have a local guy on our river who has actually gone back to small blocks from big. He never had luck with them and likes the idea of all those cheap parts. He's run 327s, 350s, 400s, most with good results. He can actually pass a few BB boats.
I ran a small block Olds (403) for years before going big block. Actually the 403 was a far more turn key setup. The 455 has needed lots of tweaking to run reliably and (so far) has only gained me a few mph.

I'm starting to like it and seems to be lots of less expensives bolt on stuff. Lost some speed today, just me and my Brother in it. Full tank in the bow 15 gals, me 180 and him closer to 200lbs. 59mph GPS, should'nt have used GPS liked 64 mph better.......
More people on the Columbia today over labor day... 3 other jets and 2 hot lake lice chicks followed us for a bit......

You small blocks make me sick! Lol jk.
My boat with a big block runs 54gps... and that's over 100 cubic inches from a 350! Then again I dont want to know how fast it would go with a small block...
