A friend of mine is looking to buy a '89 Penn Yan 212. Info on the web is slim to none. Are they still in business? What kind of motors do they use? Ect....
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ant

I don't think that they still are in business, 2001 I think was there last year. Well the engine is most likely going to be gas. The drive train, on 99.98% of all Penn Yan boats ever built, is a tunnel drive, which is like a longer & deeper prop pocket, allowing for about 18"+/- of draft. However with the tunnel drive, getting used to maneuvering the boat in close quarters could be somewhat of a challange. The props on the single engine the tunnel drives all rotate to the left. On an most inboard/v-drive boats w/ left hand rotation the boat will back to the right. With the tunnel drive it will do one of 2 things. 1 act like a most inboard/v-drive boats w/ left hand rotation. Or 2 the tunnel drive will respond like and outdrive or outboard allwoing the boat to have turn left & right while in reverse.
Hope this helps a little
