Maybe someone can help me here...
My brand-new boat has a California Emissions Label slapped right there on the gel coat on the bow. WTF???
I was told that if I take it off, I could face a $1500.00 fine. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Our boat is registered in Arizona, and 95% of our boating is done at the river.
I would like to take it off, but don't want the fine. Any help?

I suppose you're paranoid about removing the tags off of your mattress and pillows, too. :D

LOL BoatCop....I always leave the pillow tags on, they leave better marks on you when pillow fighting... :D
.
Western Boaters safety just mailed me a bunch of stickers to stick on my boat, just in case I didn't know to suck on the exhaust tips was hazardous or potentially fatal:rolleyes:

So this was a stupid question. Is there such a "law"? Harbors and Nav code, or just a stupid CA thing?
Thanks...

I am not sure about the california thing... it may be a requirement to use certain lakes and such... like tahoe.
And it wouldn't surprise me if the Frigging socialistic overbearing state government here would exact a charge for doing something like that. But it is a california thing in any case. The CARB sticker is a Cali thing altogether.

Pull it off and stick it on under the engine hatch somewhere.....if its an issue you can at least show it. In your Mercruiser owners' manual it will probably mention it.

If it were me, I would take it off and stick it on my ass. That way, if someone said "who farted", I could point to the sticker and say,"not me". :D

I provide a service to one of the local boat makers' places every monday for the last couple years. That question came up when I had an AZ number job to do and that sticker was right in the way. One of the senior staff members there said it was an obligation of the boat maker to slap that on all boats that were being sold to those in CA, so they would be in compliance. Once the sale was completed, he couldn't give a rat's ass what happened to the sticker.

At any rate, we put the sticker on the motor instead.
