Bre knows what I do.
I was just kidding. The job,pay and good pension are real. I don't think she wants to do this one though. Seriously, good luck in the search. Check with local city govt. jobs. There are always good part time starting jobs that can lead to some good full time spots with good hours and close to home commutes.

however, the bi yearly deadline for applying for that job just ended Wed. That's the best part time job in So. Cal. 300-500 a day driving automatic tractors down at the ports. Lots of college students do that and only work 3 days a week.

Wow, all that and an up close scenic view of south central L.A. There is no place in the world like Nickerson Gardens. I suggest it to any out of towners going to L.A (as long as you bring an AK47 to shoot back).

We(in the near future) are hiring a receptionist. I think they will start at around $11.00 an hour. Typing is essential, politeness a must because you will be talking to doctors from around the world. We are a state of the art medical device manufacturer in fountain valley. If you want fax your resume to Sutura. (714)4379806.

I am ... and I would love to be able to stay home with the kids til they started school. But I am not making enough money and Andy is having to work a bunch of OT to make up for what I am not bringing in. I could get more kids... as I love kids... but then you sometimes have to deal with kids who are loved...but not bathed correctly..and you cannot give them a bath...or you'll get sued...so they come with full diapers from the night before..... smelling like they haven't had a bath in a week .. just stuff that makes me not want to have to feel like I am the "mom" to a child that is not mine. Too many bad parents out there that don't give a shit about their kids... and I seem to get all those ones. ON top of the fact that if they are not coming at their normal time they do not call to tell me.. I always sit in the kitchen and look out the window waiting for parents to come because my kids are still sleeping at the time.. and I want to open the door and not have them knock loudly or ring the doorbell and it get's old waking up at 5:30am... and a kids suppose to come at 6am everyday...and they don't show up til 8 am... you call their house no one picks up... and you wait. PLus kids coming sick...getting my kids sick... my kids are sick and they still want me to watch theirs... just isn't worth it anymore.
Plus I am sooo bored at home.. I am home all day and night everyday. I hardly ever get out unless it's to the river...and it's finally really getting to me. I am such a people person and I need to be around people ( adults). If i could be hom ewith my kids til Andy got off of work then I worked a graveyard shift or something.. that would be great too.
Andy doesn't really want me working... I have offered to switch where I would go work and he could stay home... but he doesn't want that either so??????? He said I can do whatever I want to do just so I am happy ...so hopefully I will find something that pays well.

Here's the deal. We all get together somewhere. I suggest RiverDave's place. Then enter into a round robin rotation of fighting each other. Everyone brings a case of beer and a fresh can of topical freezing spray. When you lose, you sacrifice the beer to the pot but you get to use the spray.

i worked as a casual (Longshoreman) in san pedro. best damn job you can get especially when you get your (A) card. when i became disabled i was told there was no place for me on the docks, but i did make them put a medical hold on my card. (have to work 1 shift every 6 months to keep the card valid). sure wish that thing was transferable.

Yes. I am not a mom who wants to just get away from her kids trust me. I need to help out around here and bring some money in so Andy can have a break. And that means I need to make more than the cost of daycare and gas to get to my job in order for it to work. Andy says if I can't make between $800-1 K each week then he does not want me working. I know my work abilities and know that I am capable of anything, I am also a fast learner and a hard worker..hard part is getting someone to see/know that before they hire me. Not too many jobs pay 800-1K a week. So I am sure I will just cont. to stay home... just thought I would give it a shot.

Hey Bre. If you want to make some good money and have a lot of time off I would look into the casual longshoreman deal. They are giving out applications right now. Check in the newspapers there should be info. about it in them. There are a lot of women that work down there and trust when I say that this is a job that anyone can do. I have been down there for over 6 years and I have seen women that are better than alot of the men. Only down fall would be the commute for you. But you could work a couple days a week and make a lot more than any monday thru friday job.

wow. they dont hire very often. and as i mentioned in a prevous post, thats the ultimate job. and for some reason the women get thier (B) cards very quikly. after you get a (B) card you are in the union and have full benefits. and yes, you basically work when you want (sort of speak). for someone that has/needs flexible hours and work days, its the way to go. the testing process is pretty involved but well worth it. i found that the testing was even more intense than the fire service. i highly recommend looking into it. youll probably end up making more money than your hubby in time. :)

08-06-2004, 11:26 AM
Actually women do not get in any faster then men. They stopped that about 5 years ago. The testing you have to go through now is not difficult at all. They will actually train you before you have to take any tests. Due to a law suit a few years back they have changed the testing process. They have not given out applications in over 6 years which is when I got mine. The bad part is it looks like it will be a lottery drawing this time to see who gets to be tested to get the job. There are thousands of people waiting to get in this but if you get picked it is a great oppotunity.

Actually there is so much work right now they are activating the people who had cards. Give the PMA a call and find out but I'm pretty sure you can get reinstated. In fact there is so much work that they are giving temporary casuals cards to members of other unions who are not working just so they can fill some of the work. As it is casuals are working 7 days a week right now.

I thought about that..but without the money I cannot go to school. So I need to find a good job first.
I posted a question the job market in California earlier. What I found out is that the job market is good in California as opposed to here in Texas. However I am not sure a degree is the way to go in either state. I have a BS and am currently working on an MBA and neither seems to help out. I would say screw school and find out what you like to do and figure out a way to get your foot in the door. Nowadays experience counts more then a degree and its not what you know, but who you know.

What about becoming a Realtor? Its easy to do in your spare time and you can easily do it for your friends and network among their friends? Its great if you have kids because its flexable and you can work from home.
This is the best idea I've heard yet! Come on girl....get your license and I will get you going selling some homes. Let me know!

Does this mean that the pasty business isn't all its cracked up to be?
Maybe you should model the pasties, I am sure that will draw in the bucks, $5.00 or so for the pasties $50.00 to model them for a few minutes. Works for me.

I make pasties for my friends on the boards... it is not something I do to try to live off of or anything. And actually Andy thinks for the time it takes to make them it is not worth it... but I still make them for those who need/want them. It is fun for me. I don't know how anyone could make a living off of selling pasties

Right now I am a Licensed Child Care provider. So pasties is just a "free time" thing.

Bre, Don't sell the property tell them whats it's worth. Do appraisal's , the girl that did mine 2 years ago was about 20 , she had 2 roommates that worked with her . 2 of them in the field 1 at home on the puter .The field girls did about 10 a day each @ $300 a piece .6,000 aday for 3 of them no overhead .

Bre, I think I got it the perfect Business to add to your existing pasties business. Make seat covers for boats put your designs on them and sell them online maybe thru your website. Later you could expand to boat covers maybe you can sell them through REX or other distributors  ….I can bet if you put your current avatar on the made in America tag, they would sell like hot cakes. :D

I swear I saw something right afta ya died that ya was goin' to find Bre a jobby job.
The realtor thing wouldn't be a bad gig. Lots of morons out there "helping" people with one of the biggest long term purchase of thier lives.
Other than that, I have to agree with Drunk "watch my gay ass flex" Tank on the hitman thing. Ever see the news? There are no real hitmen out there anymore. All of them are undercover cops. Be a real hitman/hit person and monopolize your industry. :D
