Went looking for pics of Spanish and discovered they have a homepage! LOL! I had to lmao when I read the demographics (http://www.town.spanish.on.ca/demographics.htm) and real estate info (http://www.town.spanish.on.ca/realestate.htm) . I always knew it was small just didn't realise it was THAT small. LOL! I'm a city girl! No really ... I am. :D
They built the marina and Four Seasons complex long after I left. I saw it once in 1997 when it had just been completed and it was winter time so not much was happening there then. From the pictures it looks like they've expanded it beyond what I saw.
Spanish Ontario Marina (http://www.town.spanish.on.ca/marina.htm)
4 more days til I leave for there. :D

From that map I'd say Brackendale is comparable in size to Spanish. :)
I'm going back to Spanish for a visit. I intend to enjoy myself there but I expect the same realisation will come to me that has come to me everytime I've gone back to visit, "Ohhhh! Now I remember why I left." ;) :D
I hate Ontario winters but I love the summers there. I'm really looking forward to just being there already (first I gotta endure 2 and a half days on the bus  ... with my 7 year old son. :D )

What the hell is up with Canada...there are so many Chinese immigrating to you're frozen world you ought to have more than 7 streets per minor metropolitan area for the cry eye...
lol
Oh ya, eh?

There are very few asian folk in the particular neck of the woods I'm headed to - in Spanish I believe it's a grand total of zero (that's people not degrees celsius, lol!). ;) If the weather portion of the local newscast for that area had a song title slogan it would be "I Go To Extremes" - e.g. winter= minus 32 degrees celsius, summer= 32 degrees celsius :D (64 degree span there  )

Many many years ago, more than I'd like to remember. My Mom and Dad moved from Sacramento to some place in Canada called Hopkins Landing. My Dad worked at a saw mill or somthing. After one winter up there, my Mom left him and took us kids back to California. I don't remember much, don't know if the place is still around.

One winter could be enough to drive anybody away, lol. BTW Canada is really big ... I have never heard of Hopkins Landing. :D

Didn't work for me either. I used to live in Ukiah though. Monday Night Football at the Vineyard? and lots of beer consumed at the Sports Attic.

I grew up in Huntington Beach and circulated a petition while I was in High School to stop the redevelopment of downtown Huntington. We were not successful and when I go to visit my parents, I don't even recognise the place. There are big fancy hotels, and even the oilwell fields have been turned into a housing tract. Where I use to ride my horse down to the ocean is all houses...........I guess Tom Wolf was right..............you can't go home again :)

I been in BC ten years now. I still don't know all of Vancouver lol so that is my excuse for not knowing about Hopkins Landing - not too familiar with the BC geography. :)

Thing about small towns is that if someone sees you sneeze you discover much to your own surprise two days later from a neighbor that they heard you are most likely dying of pneumonia.
Hey I wonder if that's why I'm so nosy cuz I was raised in an environment where all kinds of info (accurate and not so much) was readily available. :D
