Man I love that stuff. We got a little up here in the high desert. I guess it went past Hesperia and tore up Victorville.

It didn't hit us too bad really. A little bit of wind and a little rain but not bad. Just a lot of clouds. Had a really cool lightning show too.

ya those are some sweet photos Mike. My house is a couple blocks off of oro grande also. We ended up grabbing some chairs on friday and just sat in the driveway with some beers and watched the show.

How long were the exposures? Did you just keep shooting till you got something?

He usually shoots at 16 seconds. If its a good storm you'll usually catch a bolt or two every 2-3 shots. Just remember if you can see the enemy they can see you to  Be careful.

I used the max setting of 16 seconds of open shutter and had the f-stop (lens brightness) at about 4.0. I capture so many more other photos than the two I posted. You can see more of what I took at http://www.fototime.com/users/riverratmike@yahoo.com

yeah I do the same thing when there is lightning or a storm around. Just can't get enough of watch the lightning strikes at night. Incredible! I'm right off Oro Grande and Buena Vista if you know where that is. Kinda close to the fire station there

Can I tell my Havasu monsoon story? It's not an earth shattering tale, but entertaining nonetheless......

yeah your very close to me. I'm on Chiricahua off Buena Vista. The road being torn up is due to the new sewer system that is being put in.

Great pics, looks like a lot of good times. I'll have to dig up some more long exp. shots to post. The sunsets are killer. Now I really miss the river, new baby, so first trip this season will be Labor Day in Parker.

The lightning show driving to LHC Thursday night on the I40 was spectacular...bolts hitting on both sides of the freeway within a mile or so - maybe closer.
Friday on the lake was a little weird but we got off in time to miss the storm - what little there was. Saturday was a great day on the lake.
We too are near Oro Grande on the south end.
