Washington - Former Vice President Al Gore today lent a powerful voice of credibility to Senator John Kerry regarding questions raised about his statements of having been in Cambodia for Christmas in 1968.
"I remember personally trudging through the watery border between Cambodia and Vietnam that day", said Gore, who was an Army journalist at the time. "Suddenly, John Kerry appeared at the helm of a Swift Boat, and offered me a ride on a top secret mission into Cambodia. We talked about how Nixon had secretly ordered us there before he was nominated, and how the American people had to find out about this. It was then that John turned to me and said, 'Al, you need to devise a way that people can communicate by computer -- over the internet.' And that's how the idea for inventing the internet became seared in my mind."
