Which late model body style or trim package do you prefer? Saleen, Cobra, Gt, or any others you can think of.
I think I like the Saleen over all better than the others.

All of the late eighty's mustangs were great. I loved my 89
and could be talked into getting another one very easy. Except I haven't had a ticket since I sold it and that's pretty nice  v-drive

I refer '69s & '70s.
But the Saleen is the Stuff for the new body styles.

My dream car is a 93 LX 5.0 coupe with a 5 spd, all stock, low miles, if anyone has one, I will buy it right now. I had a 87 5.0 coupe and a 87 GT. My GT had GT40 cast iron heads and intake, full exhaust, gears, all the anti-flex devices (subframe connectors, strut tower,4pt g load) bbk springs.... the list goes on, it was a great car, great looking, I had LX tail lights which gives a great look, I am still in love with it and miss it terribly. Those are the good ones, great aftermarket, great longevity, great performance, great looks !!

My friend just picked this up a year ago. When he bought the car the guy had a good foundation laid down. To start it is a 93 LX Coupe 5 Speed w/ 71,000 original miles. The guy did extensive weight reduction, he pulled up the carpet and took out the sound deadening and foam, then put the carpet back over. Took out the air conditioning system along with lots of other parts that werent needed, bumper supports as well. The car weighed in at 2,750lbs w/ 180lb driver so total weight should be around 2,570lbs. You cannot tell the car has been stripped, you get inside and it has full interior the outside is full as well.

It is nearly stock. The modifications are:
springs
subframe connectors
msd ignition w/ box
MAC long tube headers
H Pipe
Flowmasters
This car made me fall in love with Mustangs even more and totally turn my back on any newer style Mustang. Driving this car is VERY fun. The car went 14.0@98mph w/1.9 60' in FULL STREET trim, meaning he did nothing different for the track. He put on slicks and it went and it goes 13.6@103mph w/1.6 60' all this from a car that is basically stock. He has 3.77 gears, cam, intake manifold and some other goodies waiting to go on, his goal is to keep the clean look just as it looks now but run 11/12s on the street in STREET trim.
5.0s rock!

And if you cannot find a notchback (cause they are rare) then a hatchback with a Cobra bodykit will do just fine.

If you dont like the fox bodies (cause it is more for enthusiasts) then any newer style COBRA will do.

Kind of an open ended question... I've owned a '68 Fastback and an '88 GT. Both were great cars, but I regret selling the '68 more. I've always liked highway patrol notchbacks, '93 Cobras, and '03/'04 Cobras, and the '04 Mach 1. I actually like the looks of the last Mach 1 better than the Cobra, but that factory supercharged 4-cam motor is pretty insane.
We just received one of the first 50 2005 Mustangs to roll off the line at work, silver on grey GT with spoiler delete, and I must say it is possibly the best of all worlds. Styled just like a '67/68, all the comforts of a new car, and the platform is MUCH tighter and more comfortable than the Fox-bodied cars. I predict that Ford is going to sell the piss out of these things... but before I buy one on my own, I think I'll wait a year for the Cobra or Shelby additions.

What I really liked about my 87 GT is that it looked bone stock, untill I put a cowl hood on that I hated. I had it lowered on pony rims (with HUGE rear tires) it had freezing air conditioning, power everything, a huge stereo, lots of trunk space, quiet interior and it went 13.6@ 106.9 mph in the quarter on street tires, and I would do that with a full tank of gas too to help it get traction...... ahhhhh, it was perfect. I would have loved to run it on slicks but I never had a drivshaft loop to make it legal to run them. I need another one guys..... :frown:

My 2000 GT
Police Interceptor 4.6L, Saleen 5 spd, Bassani headers and exhaust with X pipe, Ibach 2" coils, Steeda caster camber kit with strut tower supports, Inland drive line balanced, 2x3 sub frame connectors, I'm stopping. Getting sick just thinking about the money I've dumped in this. currently has 26k on it.

i just sold a 93 gt a year ago it had 30k original but it was a convertable w/white leather... and to answer the other question i prefer the 03 cobra supercharged 4.6.. the 04 is the same car except the wheels are polished instead of brushed i like the brushed better...

What alot of people dont know about Saleen's are they are pretty much stock if you dont stack tons of options on them. They come stock with exhaust, racecraft suspension (other companys products with the Racecraft name on it) and that body kit/rims as well as some interior upgrades and what not. You can go ape-shit on them and put a blown 351, cage, racing seats, independant rear suspension, etc, etc, etc. I like Mustangs stock to the bone, well, lowered for sure, with massive power. I know a guy with a 91 LX hatchback that runs in the high 10's on slicks with full interior and a/c. He runs a high compression 302 built by Ben Alameda, fuel injected too ! And it has red interior :jawdrop: YUCK !!
