Well it looks like Kerry and Edwards are right, there are two Americas.
Clinton needs bypass surgery. Is he going to a local hospital? Or maybe to the VA hospital?
No, he is going to the reported best heart doctor in the country, who will personally work on him.........
The haves, and the have nots....... :hammerhea

So, how long has the battle over healthcare been going on? 12 years at least.
The healthcare system is a main focus every election. Democrats did nothing for 8 years but now it is Bush's fault? Give me a break. My wife and I both have decent Insurance and we still supplement it. The insurance company's have a stranglehold on us just like attorneys do. Both party's need to stop taking money from these groups and stick up for us for a change. Instead they try to put it off on employers and that is the truth.

The ironic part about Bill Clinton's situation is that if Hilary-care would have been passed during his administration, he'd be on a 4 month waiting list for his surgery. Instead, he has the choice of whichever doctor he thinks is best. And Hilary, being the classless bitch she is, immediately exploited her husband's dire situation for political gain saying "we were fortunate enough to have health insurance despite the current economic climate." Geez, I wonder how much mileage she would have gotten if he would have died?

The health care system is the fault of the left especially the unions. Years ago the unions decided that their health benifits for their employee members was the responsibility of the employer. This shift away from personal responsibility for ones own health care has caused the inflationary trend that health care is an entitlement not ones own responsibility!
The left in this country will use health care as the biggest step towards socialism since Karl Marx created his communist manifesto! I am 54 years old and can remember that my parents in the 50's did their home work and found the best medical care they could afford at the best price they could find. they didn't act as if somebody else OWED them or their family health care. They applied the same sound family business practices they used to buy houses, cars, auto insurance, life insurance ect. ect. when it came to health care. My mom shopped her doctors for all of us and also went frequently to a different pharmicist if the meds she needed just might be offered cheaper some place else than our local Rexall drug stor near out neighborhood Woolworth. My mother also bitched like hell at the dentist when he raised his price on my brothers dental work.
The point I am making is when the hell did Americans start believing that health care wasn't their own individual responsibility? The minute all Americans defered their own health care to some faceless person at their employers or with some stranger at an HMO, costs went sky rocketing up and the quality went down.
The lefties honestly believe health care is an American right. The Michael Moores of the world feed the people this tripe and they believe it. also senior citizens are the worst! Just beacuse they are old they use their age and sympathy ploy to get us to vote in billions of dollars of medical care every year for them which gets them even farther away from personal responsibility for their own health care and the situation only gets worse.
My opinion comes from a guy who is suffering from end stage renal desease, I have suffered a stroke, 6 operations on my eyes for diabetic retinaopathy,a nd probably have been hospitalized once a year for the last 10 years. Currently I am facing dialosys and a kidney transplant. I take 14 meds per day and two injections for an immune system deficiency and my combined prescriptions and medical co-pays even with insurance costs me $2,000.00 per month! My med expenses are greater than most peolles house payment! Save my wife and I make pretty good money I would probably be dead by now if my healthcare was defered to the government like Hillary and the leftie socialist want.
Why......... I am not surprised at all at Hillary's politicizing of her husband's health issues.

Sorry to hear about your medical problems.
Another contributer to health care costs, are the law suites. Docters are afraid to treat new patients, for fear of being sued. Malpractice insurance is outrageous, and in some cases imposible to get. I saw a segment on TV where an OBGYN docter was paying $75,000.00 a month for malpractice ins.
Pregnat mothers were doing drugs drinking and smoking, when the babies were born with birth defects they sued the Dr. The Dr. finaly gave up on her practice.
The 2 Americas was tried before. It was called the Civil War, I understand that it did not work out to good.

Busti - I wish you better health in the coming years.
You want to learn about the REAL Union story just read the new book by Linda Chavez, Betrayal : How Union Bosses Shake Down Their Members and Corrupt American Politics
It's about time we fixed the unions and made them accountable for the hundreds of millions of dollars they take from their union members and bankroll (liberal/left wing) politicians and the union members can't do anything to stop it!
Unions, trial lawyers, healthcare, the tax code, immigration enforcement - those are just some of the things that need reform NOW!

You're absolutely right on the medical malpractice costs. Huge awards for the smallest issues are killing healthcare costs.
Tort reform, in general, is long overdue and so necessary in this country.

Clinton go to a V.A. now that is funny!!! :D :D After his administration distroyed them. When Clinton took office the life expactancy(post MI) of V.A. Cardiac pts was pretty much the same as for those who get private care. By 1999 (according to a very comprehensive Harvard study) the life expectancy (post MI) of a V.A. pt was 25% lower. The factor that was believed to be the cause of the sudden ^ mortality was believed to be (by the harvard researchers and the V.A. officials) was the fact that the V.A. pts had to traval on average of twice as far for their care as private pt's due to the massive downsizing of the V.A. and the closure of so many cariology depts that occured as a result of "Al Gore's (title givin it by Clinton administration officials) 7 yer plan for re-inventing the V.A".

Busti, Sorry to hear of your current medical problems, I sincerly hope everything will be ok for you. One thing wasn't mention in this thread but we have an ambulance chaser running for Vice President who along with his ilk is the cause of the current health care crisis. How can he talk about health care reform when he is the problem, not the solution. He made his fortune suing hospitals and doctors for mal-practice using junk science, false testamony from questionable witnesses and milking millions from innocent hard working doctors and their insurance cos. Doctors are leaving private practice in droves because of the cost of insurance, some are leaving the profession for good and others are going to work for HMOs like Kaiser Permanente. Kaiser isn't bad for assembly line medical care but it still cost me $640.00 per month for just my wife and I. Thanks to people like Edwards I'm sure a good portion of that monthly payment goes to pay the blood sucking leeches of the industry...and they wonder why lawyers have such a shitty reputation.
